Ugarat is a planet of apex predators. Anyone might think that the Morat are that world’s true apex predator, and they certainly are, but this wasn’t always so. There’s practically no area of this planet that doesn’t have its own regional apex predator, and most of them fall into the MegaBeast category: massive creatures that are fiercely territorial and as dangerous as they are aggressive. In order to survive and thrive as a species, the Morat had to learn to deal with them, and to do so proactively, so each tribe had its own group of specialist hunters, a privileged class whose members had a fairly short life expectancy.
Out of sheer necessity, this caste survived the different Morat eras and societal changes, eventually becoming brotherhoods of hunters who drifted from place to place, going wherever they were needed, wherever a MegaBeast came too close to a populated area and proved to be a danger to its inhabitants.
When the Supremacy spread across the stars, the Morat discovered other planets with their own MegaBeasts, so these brotherhoods became independent contractors for the Aggression Force as well as for the Morat corporations that were operating under its protection. Of all these brotherhoods, the Tyrok are among the most renowned, as they are one of the oldest societies as well as one of the smallest, since they are the most demanding on their members.
