Thorakites

Background

Thorakitai (Thorakites in singular) are the basic infantry of the Assault Subsection. If Myrmidons are the vanguard force, the wave that breaks against the enemy, the Thorakitai are the tide that comes behind, supporting their actions, securing the terrain, wiping out the enemy and consolidating the position. Despite the armor that names them (Thorakitai: “cuirassiers”) and links them to the heavy troops of the ancient Greek phalanxes, they are a mobile unit. They are capable not only of defending the rearguard and valuable supply lines but may also adopt a more aggressive role to lead offensives on the frontline. If Myrmidons are the howling warriors of the Subsection, Thorakitai are the silent bad boys, the ones who know how to wait for their opportunity to prove they are full members of the Assault Subsection, born to war and baptized in blood.
