Illuminatrix

Background

Expert neurochemists, the mission of the Illuminatrixes is to take part in the top-secret rituals that take place in the depths of the Telesterion. There, in the name of the Holy Virgin of the Knife, they illuminate the aspirants and the Reverends in the faith of Our Lady of Mercy, granting them the most precious gift of all: the encounter and direct contact with the Virgin Mary.

Illuminatrixes have developed the Lux Virginis, a cocktail of drugs that, in conjunction with the sanctified nails that they implant in the spines of the Reverends, stimulates the growth of new neural connections in the temporal lobe and other areas of the brain, allowing—or simulating—contact with divinity.
