Background

Only the best soldiers can aspire to join the heavy infantry units that make up the Heavy Tactical Group, better known as “Orc Troops”. The nickname, Orc, originates from the name of the company that develops their combat armour, the ORC Corp. (Omnia Research Creation Corporation). The Orc Troops have earned the reputation of being veterans that always take part in the most aggressive operations. As multi-purpose heavy infantry, Orc troops are assigned to the fronts of the most intensive battles, to establish the toughest line of resistance, and to try and break through the enemy lines.

Equipment

Armor

Refined over more than twenty years of patron-client relationship between Omnia Research and Creation and the Orc Troops, ORC Combat Armour is a highly effective, all-around solution suited to almost any environment. Orc Troops are a multipurpose heavy infantry, and as such often form the hard-hitting core of any operation, whether assault or defence. As a result, the ORC Combat Armour has to be reliable, durable, and capable to making computational adjustments based on environmental data. This flexibility makes the ORC Combat Armour one of the most successful pieces of military kit in the PanOceanian armoury. It may not be the best, but it is the most adaptable. Any environment, from the jungles of Paradiso to conflicts in zero-gravity, Orc Troops have served in it, and ORC Combat Armour has been adjusted, reprogrammed, and refined to better suit it. If one needed a better example of how ingrained corporate PanOceania is to the Military Complex, one need look no further than the Orc Troops, whose very name comes from an acronym drawn on their patron name. Orc Troops are a walking advertisement for the success and functionality of ORC Combat Armour, so much so that a sizeable portion of the corporations revenue comes from associated merchandise, a percentage of which is fed directly back into the Orc Troops, further strengthening the ongoing relationship.

As such, many private contractors afford versions of the ORC armor. Although often stripped down from its military-maximal settings, the ORC armor and its derivatives are not an uncommon sight on Foreign Company deployments. Less expensive but visually similar versions also exist, limiting the servomotors and speed but keeping the protection. Even the cheapest and least-comfortable versions still provide decent harm-reduction, and all of them have the impressive combat-augmenting properties of the military-spec version. Aim-assist, LIDAR, Radar, motion detection, and many more; the specifics vary but all ORC armor contributes a substantial amount to ensuring every bullet hits its target.

Offering strong physical protection, a solid biotechnological shield, as well as an operating system designed and refined through tens of thousands of front-line combat service and feedback, ORC Combat Armour is both effective and iconic. It is little wonder that the pared-down version of ORC Combat Armour is one of Omnia Research and Creation’s best-selling private defence solutions. Civilian knockoffs, often called Goblin Suits, seldom include the full experience of military models and have better communication suites but more vulnerability.

Specialized Divisions

ORC troops from Varuna are trained in underwater conditions and aquamobile ops. Based out of Varuna, they train on island jungles and have unique "Armored Stealth" packages in their suits. In the closing days of the NeoColonial Wars, many ORC troopers were left out to dry in thick Paradiso rainforests. They mixed themselves into small, flexible, heterogenous squads to respond to the unpredcitable strikes from Yu Jing airborne forces.

The event underscored the need to maintain a permanent reserve of ORC units trained in stealth, jungle warfare, and smaller fireteams. These ORCs have particular familiarity with operating alongside other non-ORC units.

Weaponry

ORCs use just about every weapon in the POMIC arsenal. The CineticS Radjun MULTI Rifle is very common, though a number use the standard-issue CineticS Dayak rifle. A smaller number carry the CineticS Baron, a top-of-the-line boarding shotgun. A few even have the Franco-Germanique Armaments Feuerbach.

But, among line infantry, an ORC with the iconic CineticS Tausug heavy machine gun is a truly terrifying sight; for many years, the ORC wielding the HMG was a bogeyman. Now, there are more heavy infantry units in the sphere to compete, but it doesn't make an ORC any less deadly.
