The Diplomatic Delegates are highly respected in Tohaa society. They are a social elite far above any politician. Easily recognized by their distinguished bearing, the Diplomatic Delegates are characterized by their extraordinary ability to maneuver in the most tempestuous situations intergalactic diplomacy can generate. The members of Tohaa Diplomacy are known for their flexibility and adaptability to any scenario. Such is their ability that the rumor is they have been biomodified to have extreme control over their pheromonic capabilities, so they can exactly control the information they emit. In this way, a Diplomatic Delegate may even lie without betraying itself if need be or even completely block its emissions to avoid revealing secrets or disturbing other races sensitive to pheromonic information. Those biomodifications would also include alterations to phonation organs so they can replicate sounds of other alien languages, making direct communication easier, without need for simultaneous translation devices.

As a civilization of eminent explorers, the Tohaa have a long record of first contacts with other species, not all of them friendly, and quite often dangerous. The Diplomatic Delegates are the first ones to make initial contact and to enter unknown terrain. That is why they are required to always have a high level of preparation, cold blood, and an absolute level of professionalism, because their tasks also include high-level espionage, always implicit, never explicit, as well as conspiracy and intrigue. For this reason, the Diplomatic Delegates are depicted as the main characters in many works of fiction in the Tohaa entertainment industry, personifying the perfect ideal of the elegant, refined and glamorous spy.


Diplomatic Delegates trusted to serve the Trinomial in alien space are vested with an enormous amount of power. Deals, trade, agreements, and concessions are hammered out by the diplomatic corps of the Errant ship or ships that have been allocated, and these are expected in return to represent the vision of the Trinomial, and by extension, the Tohaa. Errant ships are always in close and continual contact with the governing body on Runohaa, and the policies and direction that comes from Runohaa represents the vision for the Tohaa in interspecies politics. Naturally, the relationship between the lead diplomat, the ship’s captain, and the Runohaa liaison is close, with each providing a key and important perspective on how any relationship could and should proceed. Ultimately though, it is for the Trinomial itself to provide direction, and the captain and lead diplomat are responsible for ensuring the ship’s crew and the diplomatic corps carry this vision through to fruition.

It can be frustrating at times, as the perspective from the front line does not always match with the understanding of the liaison on Runohaa. It is expected that the Trinomial will weigh the opinions and knowledge of the captain and lead diplomat with care and consideration. They, after all, are the one with a direct and functional knowledge of the situation in which they are serving. It does not always work out this way however, and there are times when the distance between the front line of service and the halls of power on Runohaa are too great to fully express how a plan, vision, or particular policy might not be the best way forward given the context. Errant ships have a certain amount of leeway to operate outside the orders of the Trinomial, but such cases are rare, and always followed by rigorous investigation. It is sometimes easier to work with what you have been directed to do than to push back and have to explain the ins and outs afterwards. This is the difficulty of being a part of the command structure of an Errant ship, and one that officers and diplomats do not take lightly. There have been a rare number of cases in which an officer or diplomat has pushed their own vision or agenda in flagrant disregard of directions from Runohaa, and these have rarely ended well for either the Tohaa responsible or for the empire as a whole.


The diplomatic delegates of Tohaa are the elite of their society. They have a very large capacity for adaptation and negotiation. They are always prepared, and they are cold-blooded enough to perform tasks requiring a high degree of espionage, conspiracy, and intrigue.[1]

As a civilisation of explorers, the Tohaa frequently make first contact with other species. These meetings are important and dangerous in equal measure, to successfully navigate them requires operatives with exceptional diplomatic skills as well as ice in their veins.

Enter the diplomatic delegates. Social elites outranking most politicians, Tohaa diplomats are renowned for their flexibility in approach, methodology, and ethics. Rumour has it that these elite negotiators are even capable of lying through the Corahtaa pheromone language, causing other Tohaa to regard them with a mixture of fear and awe. Tohaa pop culture has embraced diplomatic delegates as the perfect ideal of elegant, glamourous, and deadly operatives, as skilled in espionage as in negotiation.

Their actual intelligence work tends to be of a subtler nature; intrigue and conspiracy rather than high-stakes action. Still, they are neither incapable nor unwilling to use direct methods when the need arises.
