Background

Professional gamers recruited to the Haptic Action Cyberteam.

Dokkaebi - Korean for "Goblin." Historically, Japanese tried to assimilate “Dokkaebi” and say it was the same thing as “Oni,” and did not succeed. No traditional writings describe what DOKKAEBI look like.


Korean society is extremely competitive. From the beginning of their formal education and after they move into the labor market, Korean citizens are under pressure in every social sphere. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that this competitiveness has infected Mayagaming too, spawning a strong gaming culture and a bunch of gamers internationally recognized as the finest in the entire Sphere.

With such a mindset, it isn’t surprising that the military decided to tap into these gamers’ potential, just as the private sector has. Exploiting the capabilities of remote presence units and building on the achievements of the Karakuri Project developed by the Rokkaku keiretsu and the tech implemented in the Su-Jian Program, engineers from the R&D department of the Jangjeom (장점, ‘advantage’) chaebol developed the Inhyeong (인형, ‘doll’) series.

These android units allowed gamers to put their skills to use straight away in tactical actions in the field, without any training other than the purely operational, omitting the physical side of it, thus reducing training time and speeding up the deployment of new recruits into combat.

The Inhyeong combined with their skills turn these gamers into deadly operatives with superhuman abilities. However, even if Inhyeong units are highly commendable, these Mayagamers’ skills constitute the main competitive advantage of the Dokkaebi Haptic Action Cyberteam. Blog
